Solar Feed-in expiring

The Solar Feed-in Tariff is expiring… What next?

Since 2010 the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) has allowed people to install small scale Solar PV Technology and access payback from the government. This scheme has created an industry aimed at helping Britain to become a more renewable economy, but from 31st March 2019 this tariff expires. The FiT pays individuals and businesses for creating their own clean electricity via a generation tariff with extra payments available when they generate more than they use (known as the ‘export tariff’) and will be defunct after this date. So what next?

We think that Air Source Heat Pumps is the technology to bridge the gap left by the withdrawal of this funding. This technology makes use of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which allows householders or landlords to access finance to overcome the barrier of the cost of technology for a period of seven years. Air Source Heat Pumps are not a new technology. They have been around for over 10 years and have evolved to become extremely efficient heating renewables.

Here at Freedom we have been working with the technology for just about as long as it has been around! This means that we know we can utilise this technology to provide over 40% of a properties heating requirements. We are able to fully support any engineer in the entire project, from heating calculations and schematics right through to completion, and can even help you look at how you can help sell the technology using the RHI scheme.
